Your rights to use content and material on Weather Platform websites and social media platforms.
In accordance with Australian Government policy, the Bureau of Meteorology aims to make pubulic sector information available on an open and reusable basis where possible, including on its websites (www.WeatherPlatform.Wix.com/ProdPlatform; Facebook.com/WeatherPlatform; Twitter.com/WeatherPlatform; Instagram.com/WeatherPlatform; YouTube.com/WeatherPlatform.

An Open Access Licence

A Creative Commons (CC) Attribution 3.0 licence. The terms and conditions of the relevant CC licences are at http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/au/. Where this applies, the material will be marked with a CC logo such as:

The Weather Platform’s default terms of use

Where no terms of use are associated with a set of material, then you may download, use and copy that material for personal use, or use within your organisation but you may not supply that material to any other person or use it for any commercial purpose. Any use under these default terms must comply with the following:

The Weather Platform must be identified as the source of the material and a prominent link included to The Weather Platform’s web page or social media platform from which the material was sourced
any copyright statement or logo included on, or in connection with, a set of material must be retained.
all text or graphical re-presentation of forecasts must include the issue time and date and the validity of the period and must precisely reproduce any warnings associated with the material

Where an Open Access Licence does not apply, or you wish to use the material outside of The Weather Platform’s default terms of use, you must apply for a Weather Platform Access Agreement.

Please note that there may be different or additional conditions associated with some of the available material. Be sure to check the licensing information for each set of material you wish to use which may require you to contact the original copyright owner for permission to use the material. Use of images (including satellite images) and the Commonwealth Coat of Arms are subject to the terms set out below. You may use also use any material in accordance with rights you have under the Copyright Act 1968 (for example under the fair dealing provisions or statutory licences).

Use of images

Unless otherwise stated, all images (including background images, icons and illustrations) on The Weather Platform’s websites are copyright of The Weather Platform and their respective owners and you must obtain the permission of those owners to use such images. You agree that when you tag us on any social media platform you give us permission to use your images across our sites. you own the rights to your images. When you tag us, you reserve all rights to those images and you can opt for us not to re-distribute your content.

No Circumvention of terms

You are entitled to use material on The Weather Platform websites and social platforms in accordance with the applicable terms above. The use of any material on The Weather Platform websites and social platforms obtained through use of automated or manual techniques including any form of scraping or hacking is prohibited.

'scraping' includes page, content, screen or web scraping amongst others, and is the process of extracting information from websites usually by converting unstructured website content (usually HTML) into structured data.

Use of material in a way not permitted on the websites and social platforms, or otherwise in accordance with the Copyright Act 1968 may be an infringement of copyright. Infringing copyright may expose you to legal action by, and liability to, the copyright owner.

Where you wish to use material in a way that is beyond the scope of the terms of use that apply to it, you must first obtain the agreement of The Weather Platform’s copyright officer which you can contact via direct message on any of our social media platforms.

Using The Weather Platform’s brand and trademarks

The Weather Platform’s trademarks and brand include, but are not limited to, The Weather Platform's logos and any word, phrase, image or other designation that identifies the source or origin of any of The Weather Platform products, including "The Weather Platform”, “Weather Platform”, “The Production Platform”, “Prod Platform”, “Where the day depends on the weather” and “Australia’s social media weather platform”.

Do:

Give your website, mobile application or product a unique name that does not replicate or evoke any of The Weather Platform’s trademarks or proprietary designations.

Don't:

Use our brands ("The Weather Platform”, “Weather Platform”, “The Production Platform”, “Prod Platform”, “Where the day depends on the weather” and “Australia’s social media weather platform”) in the name of your website, mobile application or product.
Register a domain that replicates or relates to any part of The Weather Platform’s name or brand, or any alternative spelling, transliteration or variation thereof.
Use our logo as a means of attribution.
Use our brand in any way that suggests sponsorship or endorsement by The Weather Platform.
Apply for a trademark with a name that includes any of our marks or brand, or any alternative spelling, transliteration or variation thereof.
Use textual references to the Bureau that are hyperlinked to anywhere other than The Weather Platform website (www. weatherplatform.wix.com/prodplatform).

Attribution of image guidelines

Do:

Use our official, unmodified attribution image to represent our brand.
Link the attribution image to http://weatherplatform.wix.com/prodplatform/3rdpartyattribution.

Don't:

Change the colour of the attribution image, or modify or alter the image in any way.
Incorporate any text beside or close to the image that suggests it is connected to the attribution image.
Use any other trademarks or logos to represent our brand.
Use other artwork from The Weather Platform's website.
Create your own attribution image.
Add the same or similar text to your site or app outside of the image.
Attribute material to The Weather Platform in any way other than through the attribution logo.
Use the logo in an unclear or ambiguous manner - including suggesting sponsorship or endorsement by The Weather Platform.

Visual identity

Do:

Design your website with a unique brand and logos.

Don't:

Copy The Weather Platform’s branding, look and style in any way that might confuse the public.

By using The Weather Platform's attribution image, you agree to abide by the terms and conditions of its usage. The Weather Platform reserves the right to cancel, modify or change the permission in this policy at any time at its sole discretion.
